Travel Tales: The good, the bad, and the ugly of road trips
Ben and Tippe share their first road trip experiences, including some bad experiences and some fun ones. Ben reminisces on using Mapquest to drive to Missouri and needing to make some detours along the way. He also learned that driving 18 hours straight is a bad, bad idea.
Having grown up in Hawaii, Tippe spent hours daydreaming about and planning all the road trips she’d take once she moved to the mainland. She talks about her first road trip with friends from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City, and another one back to LA with a stranger.

Bring healthy snacks.
Provide plenty of entertainment for everyone in the car, especially if you have kids.
Download music beforehand in case you spend time with no service.
Add time for stops — explore the places you pass, if possible.
Have an emergency contact in case something goes wrong.
